About Beat DMV

Nestled in the heart of Los Angeles’s San Fernando Valley, the Law Office of Rodney Gould is just a short flight away from any court in the state of California. Beat DMV is a major focus of our firm. We have won DMV writ cases from San Francisco to San Diego, often providing assistance in the background on behalf of the client’s attorney of record.

Principal And Founder

Our principal, Rodney Gould, is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney who has been practicing law for more than two decades. Follow this link for more information about his background:

Former Prosecutor — Aggressive Litigator — Knowledgeable, Community-Minded And Ready To Fight To Win

Mr. Gould began his career as a civil prosecutor in mail fraud cases for the United States Postal Service in Washington, D.C. During that time he litigated in federal district courts throughout the country, establishing a name for himself as an aggressive litigator. He then served with distinction at the Department of Justice as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia.

Since leaving government service, he has provided legal services to some of the nation’s largest companies, including MCI, Bank of America and Countrywide Financial. Mr. Gould earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Eureka College and a Juris Doctor from the University Of Illinois College Of Law.

When he is not fighting DMV, Mr. Gould is an active philanthropist, serving on the boards of several nonprofit corporations.

Educated Administrative Support

Our administrator, Lee McCoy, is a retired attorney whose own practice focused on DMV litigation. Now running the firm and spearheading this website, he also brings a wealth of DMV experience to the firm.

He holds an instructor’s certificate in standardized field sobriety tests from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. He was one of only a handful of California attorneys accepted into the Robert F. Borkenstein Course in Highway Safety — the country’s premier drunk driving course for prosecutors and state toxicologists.

Mr. McCoy is a former law professor at the Southern California Institute of Law and regularly taught DMV seminars to other attorneys. Mr. McCoy studied microbiology in college and earned both his bachelor’s degree and his Juris Doctor from the University Of Illinois College Of Law.
