About The DMV Re-Examination Process
“Re-examination” is the term given to the second level of the Department of Motor Vehicles’ actions (after investigations) against a motorist’s driver’s license. A re-examination may be triggered by law enforcement request or by a physician’s report of a condition that makes driving dangerous. The process may be as simple as providing medical information or as onerous as retaking the vision, law and driving tests.
If a physical or mental condition poses an immediate threat to public safety, DMV may suspend the motorist’s license pending re-examination. DMV may also suspend the license of any motorist who fails to appear for a scheduled re-examination.
